The chances of getting pregnant with twins
The chances of getting pregnant with twins
A multiple birth is when two or more fetuses (the name given to babies in the womb) are designed. The more reliably recorded was eight (octuplets). The use of drugs against sterility was the frequency of the most common multiple births.
In the UK, one in 90 births produces twins (a higher percentage of West Indian parents), one in 6000 births produces triplets, and one in 500,000 births quadruplets product. A family history of multiple births means of a multiple birth is more likely. A woman who has already givenbirth to twins conceived again and will have a chance to have ten more.
In the past, the twins are often a surprise. Today, the twins are relatively common, and they occur in 1 out of every 32 births. The rate of twin births has increased by more than 60 percent since 1980. In just three decades, the chance of getting pregnant with twinshas more than doubled.
The rate of twin pregnancy is increasing due to two factors:
One: More women are delaying pregnancy after 30 years. Older women (over 30) are more likely than their younger counterparts to conceive multiples.
Two: There are more women who use fertility drugs and assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) - to become pregnant.
There are two types of twins, identical and non-identical.
1. Identical (uniovular twins) develop from an egg, which, after it has been fertilized, divides into two cells that develop into two babies. Every baby looks like and has the same genes, and they are the same sex. They share the same placenta and are surrounded by the outer membrane itself. If cell division is incomplete, the result can be Siamese twins whose bodies are joined in different places.
2. Non-identical (binovular twins) develop from two fertilized eggs. If more than two eggs are released and fertilized, most fetuses will result. The fraternal twins or are not necessarily the same sex, and are more alike than brother and sister. As the fetus, they have different and separate placentas outer membranes.
Most pairs of twins are fraternal twins - who develop from two different eggs and two sperm. Each twin has his / her own placenta and amniotic sac. Some twins are similar, others are not. Fraternal twins can be two of the same sex (two boys and two girls), or two of each sex (a boy and a girl).
The chance of having identical twins is one in 250. Identical twins occur when a fertilized egg splits into two and becomes two babies. Each baby has its own amniotic sac, but they can share a placenta. Identical twins are always of the same sex, and they are similar.
Identical twins occur by chance, so there is no way to assess your risk factor. However, you can have a chance of getting pregnant Fraternal Twins in the following cases:
Twins in your family. Heredity plays a role in a multiple pregnancy. If you have multiples of your family, youre more likely to get pregnant with twins as a woman who has no family history of multiple. If youre a twin, you have a 1 in 60 chance of having more than one baby.
You are a certain breed. Twin pregnancies are more common among African-Americans. They are less common in Asian and Hispanic women.
This is not your first pregnancy. Your chance of getting pregnant with twins increases with the number of pregnancies you.
You are big and tall. Interestingly, many are more common in women who are tall and large, and women who are smaller and smaller.
Your age matters. Chance to have multiple increases with age. In older women, you are more likely to drop an egg in a menstrual cycle. This greatly increases your risk of having fraternal twins, especially if you have unprotected sex.
Twins can usually be diagnosed by the end of the second month of pregnancy, usually by ultrasound. During pregnancy the position of each baby can be felt and two heart beats can be heard.
Pregnant with twins - special tips for moms expecting twins
Congratulations on your twins. Twins may be double the trouble, but they are also double the love and twice the fun. However, when you are pregnant with twins, your pregnancy will be slightly different than a pregnant mom is expecting a baby.
For example, you will experience the same symptoms of a single pregnancy pregnancy - morning sickness, food cravings, and fatigue - but your symptoms will be more pronounced and intense. It is not uncommon for a pregnant mother of twins to feel extreme and severe nausea and vomiting, fatigue.
For easier twins, keep the following tips in mind:
- Choose a health care provider that you trust and who has experience in taking care of a twin pregnancy. Inexperienced doctors may miss some early signs of twins complications. You want a doctor who is knowledgeable and took care of pregnant women with twins or multiples.
- Make an appointment with a nutritionist or dietitian who is familiar with the nutritional needs of a twin pregnancy. (In general, a woman pregnant with twins should add about 600 extra calories to his normal diet. If you carry multiple, add 300 extra calories for each child.)
- Do not try to lose weight. Gain the recommended amount of weight for a twin pregnancy, which is between 35 and 45 pounds for a woman of average size. Pregnant with twins who do not take enough weight are at increased risk of premature labor and delivery of babies size smaller risk.
- Be ready for bed rest. While some pregnant moms of twins are able to continue the pregnancy without bed rest, moms-to-be more than two will be asked to go on some form of bed rest. This is because 50 percent of twin babies arrive early (before 37 weeks of pregnancy). Premature babies face a variety of health complications, if you want to make sure your pregnancy lasts as long as possible.
- Take a twin or multiple category. Read all the books you can about the twins. Parenting twins has its own challenges that you want to be prepared for. Talk to other moms of twins, get advice, and share stories of pregnancy.
- Be open to the possibility that you might have a caesarean section. You can have a cesarean if one of your twins is lower in the uterus and if one twin is in a breech position. Vaginal delivery for twins is successful as the twins are in the head-down position.
